WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE?
In most states, you MUST be a licensed cosmotolgist to do makeup for many jobs. While we can certainly give you a certificate of completion, it's not really worth anything.
Our classes are designed to be a great first step before you spend thousands and thousands of dollars for professional makeup school. We encourage all students thinking of a career in professional makeup artistry to get a license in cosmetology or esthetics and by pass big expensive makeup schools.
Learning a craft that you may or may not like is a very expensive lesson. In our 5 day hands on makeup class, you get up close and personal with working artists along with first hand instruction who can tell you all the pros and cons of entering this amazing industry.
Our classes are designed for cosmetologists and estheticians who would like to add additional skills to their arsenal. Being able to do makeup helps you become more marketable overall.
If any school tells you that you don't need to be licensed to be a professional makeup artist, (outside of film or TV) consider calling your state to check for yourself.
You don't need a license if:
- If you work at a cosmetics counter demonstrating makeup.
- If you work in print, TV or film.
You usually need a license in most states if:
- If you desire to do any other makeup, bridal, events, proms, etc, you should call your state board for clarification.
- For Illinois, please call Department of Professional Regulation
