FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DO I HAVE TO TAKE FLAWLESS FACE?
You don't have to, but we highly suggest it.
If you have any questions we can always guide you on which class would best suite your needs.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO TAKE A MAKEUP LESSON?
The best time to take a makeup lesson is during daylight hours. Our studio is a beautiful natural light space that really allows you to choose the correct colors and textures.
When possible it's always suggested to do a class during the late morning thru early afternoon. We also can accomodate evening classes with the help of "THE MAKEUP LIGHT". But overall, daytime hours are the best if you can make that work for your schedule.
WILL I LEARN A COMPLETE FACE LESSON?
Yes, with the exception of our smokey eye class, which is specifically about the eyes and custom classes.
We don't want to have you leave feeling incomplete, so our classes typically cover all the bases unless you need something the more specific.
HOW DO I BOOK THE CLASS?
Some things that are helpful to us is knowing what type of class you are interested in, what you are looking to learn or what you feel you need help with. We coordinate scheduling your class based on availability of your schedule, the instructors and the studio time.
Once you have scheduled your class, fill out BEFORE CLASS questionnaire so that we can be sure we maximize our time together.
WHAT IF I HAVE SENSITIVE SKIN?
We can set you up with one of our instructors who are also licensed estheticians. If you have a particular allergy or skin condition, please let us know.
WILL I GO HOME WITH STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS?
In every class we provide you with a face chart and step by step instructions that you can take notes with.
However, since makeup is a learned art, learning by "doing" is better than note taking.
If you are taking a private class, the instructor can help detail the steps for you at the end of the class during the check out process.
MAY I ASK QUESTIONS AFTER I GET HOME?
Absolutely, please feel free to email us at email@example.com and our studio director will pass along the question to your instructor.
WHAT EXPERIENCE DO MY INSTRUCTORS HAVE?
All of our instructors have many years of experience in all areas of makeup. All are working, professional makeup artists.
Our instructors have a special passion for teaching everyday women the tips and tricks they use everyday. They have an expertise in knowing how different products will work for different skin tone, color, circumstances, etc. Plus all have great personalities, so it's like spending time with your best girlfriend.
I WANT TO BECOME A MAKEUP ARTIST. CAN YOU HELP ME?
Currently our class topics are designed for the consumer makeup. However we do have our blog Glossible which offers webinars to aspiring pros. There are other valuable resources and articles as well. We do offer seasonal classes for pros. Watch our website for more info.
At this time, Sonia Roselli and Glossible does not endorse any professional makeup schools in Chicago. To be a makeup artist in most states, you must be a licensed cosmetologist.
If you are serious about a career in the beauty industry, we suggest enrolling in a cosmetology program to get your esthetics or cosmetology license. After you have your state license, taking makeup classes to advance your technique is wise and highly suggested. There are many schools that can help you do that.
Do not get sucked into the word "certification" as a selling tool to set up shop. It means nothing for your career.
To be a makeup artist and charge money, you must be licensed by your state. (Check your state laws as the rules vary from state to state.)
I DON'T KNOW WHICH CLASS TO SIGN UP FOR?
We will work with you to put you in the best class for your needs and concerns. We want you to leave feeling empowered and confident and strive to teach you the look or techniques you are most interested in! Drop us an email if you feel confused or overwhelmed.
If nothing sounds like what you need, we can also do a custom class just for you!
I'M NERVOUS AND INTIMIDATED. CAN YOU HELP ME?
Our studio is a place to relax, play and learn. All of our classes (except demo classes) are hands-on, instructor guided. We believe you will learn the most by practicing on your own face, instead of having someone else apply the makeup. Makeup is an applied art that must be practiced.
Our instructors will guide you every step of the way, offering advice or different techniques that might work better for you.
Everyone was a beginner at one point in time, we love to be able to help you feel more comfortable with your skills!
MAY I SIT IN ON A GROUP MAKEUP CLASS?
Scheduled classes, while we have tried, never seem to work out with people's busy lives. Private Group Classes seem to work out best. Call your friends, let's have a party of your own!
